Broken Arrow Students Welcome Home Their Soldier Pen Pal

A Broken Arrow soldier got her chance to meet some of her pen pals in person Tuesday morning.

Arrowhead Elementary School students held a special assembly to welcome home Specialist Shanna Gantz with the 45th Infantry Brigade.

As part of the school's get connected program, students used Skype to talk with Gantz sent her letters during her deployment in Afghanistan.

"To come here and see them all in person, it's a crazy feeling because you don't picture that happening when you're over there because it's really hard to imagine yourself back home," said Oklahoma National Guard Specialist Shanna Gantz.

Gantz is a 2009 graduate of Broken Arrow High School and her area of interest is broadcast journalism.
