A Tulsa Police officer on patrol in the 5000 block of West 3rd Street Thursday evening smelled a strong chemical odor and began tracking it down.

The officer traced the odor to a detached garage nearby.

As the officer walked up to the garage, a man and woman walked outside.

Both were detained by the officer until more Tulsa Police officers arrived on scene.

A search of the garage turned up an active meth lab.

Michael Hocutt, 23, and Brandi Carter, 40, were arrested and booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of manufacture of a controlled and dangerous substance.
