Teen In Serious Condition After Shooting In North Tulsa
TULSA, Oklahoma - A man is in serious condition at a local hospital after a shooting in north Tulsa.
It happened on North Boston Place shortly after 2 p.m. Tulsa Police say two groups of young men got into a fight in front of a house in the area.
"Some of the males introduced a gun into the situation and shot into the house. Occupants in the house as far as we can tell shot back," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Matt McCord.
During all of the commotion, a 19-year-old man was shot in his torso. Police are not sure if he was in or outside of the home when it happened. McCord says the wounded man ran for his life and collapsed about a block and a half away.
"We don't know that the person that was shot, what his involvement was, whether he was simply a victim in the crossfire or whether he was involved in it," said McCord.
"I walked down there and I seen it. I seen them put him in the ambulance," said one local resident, who wished not to be identified. "I think everybody is afraid out here."
Some say it's unnerving to see K9 officers, police cars and crime scene tape so close to home.
"Scary because it could have been right here in front of my house. A bunch of kids here, you know. That's what scares me the most is most of the kids," said Shelly, who also lives in the area.
Tulsa Police say they found two semi-automatic handguns used in the shooting. One was found by K9 officer in a wooded area. The other was found near the scene of the crime.
