A large complex of thunderstorms rolled across southeastern OK and northern Texas overnight creating heavy rainfall, strong to severe winds, and some small hail.  This complex is well east of the region this morning but some clouds from this system may linger for a few hours this morning before becoming mostly sunny later today.  Afternoon highs should move into the mid-80s along with northeast winds around 10 to 15 mph.  Slightly drier air at the surface will take the edge of the humidity values today giving us a respite from yesterday's extremely high humidity across NE OK.

The pattern will remain active for the next 36 hours as several weak upper level waves embedded in the flow attempt to move across the southern plains.  The timing of these individual waves will be difficult.  Most of the scattered storms today will be across western and southwestern OK, but there will be a slight chance of a few scattered storms from OKC to near McAlester by 5pm to 7pm tonight.  The OKC metro area will have highs around 85 today with a 20% chance of storms by game time, and a 30% chance of storms by the end of the game.   Some of these storms may move into northeastern OK after midnight with a gradual increase of scattered storms by midday tomorrow across NE Ok and Southeastern Kansas.  We'll keep the pop for a 40% chance tomorrow with highs in the mid-80s.  The south winds will return tomorrow and this will signal the increase of moisture and heat back into the region for the weekend.

Morning lows will move into the lower 70s with afternoon highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s from this weekend into early next week.  The upper air pattern will support the approach of another surface boundary by early next week, but early data runs indicate the system may stay too far north to have a major impact on the state.

Rainfall overnight across Southern OK:

McAlester 1.43

Stuart 2.55

Stigler 0.06

Antlers 3.14

Yesterday's high Tulsa: 87

Today's average high: 87  Average low: 67

Rainfall to date:  16.97   A departure of -1.48 from normal for the year.
