One person was arrested after allegedly shooting two people in rural Payne County Monday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the shooting at around 4:30 p.m. Monday, at a house located in the 9700 block of Coyle Road in rural Payne County.

Authorities say the suspect, a 52-year old man, owns the home and fired shots at two family members.

The victims, a man and a woman both in their 20s, are recovering at OU Medical.

Investigators hadn't responded to the home or surrounding barn before. Captain Kevin Woodward of Payne County told News 9 there were several family members in the house who witnessed the shooting, who were able to restrain the suspect.

The suspect was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital and will be arrested upon release.
