A McAlester woman was killed when she was thrown from her SUV in a Pittsburg County wreck Saturday. Troopers believe alcohol use was involved.

Audra Honel was taking the exit to eastbound U.S. Highway 69 from State Highway 9A just before 1 a.m., according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The 27-year-old woman lost control of her 1997 Ford Explorer on a curve.

The SUV flipped two and a half times, coming to rest on its roof. Honel, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at McAlester Regional Hospital of massive injuries, according to the trooper's report.

The cause of the collision is listed as driving under the influence of alcohol.
