A man sentenced to life in prison for stomping a Cushing woman to death has asked a judge to withdraw his guilty plea.

Benjamin Littlesun sent a handwritten request to Payne County Judge Phillip Corley to withdraw his plea of guilty to first-degree murder. Littlesun received a life sentence earlier this month in the death of 45-year-old Ava Marie King.

On Monday, the Payne County district attorney's office filed a motion in opposition to Littlesun's request.

Littlesun did not provide a reason for why he wanted to withdraw his plea. His attorney, Peter Astor, declined to comment.

The Stillwater NewsPress reports that Littlesun is due in court August 10 on his request.

King was found badly beaten in an alleyway in Cushing back in December, 2011. Investigators said King was nude from the waist down. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Later that day, authorities arrested Benjamin Littlesun after positively identifying hand prints left on a trash can near King's body.
