Police identified a man killed after a gun fight at the Shakers Club on NE 23rd near Spencer Road early Saturday morning as 23-year-old Jean-Ciar Pierce.

Spencer Police Chief Virgil Green said the man was shot two times and crashed his car about 200 yards from the scene of the shooting.

Saturday morning investigators with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office were on scene collecting evidence and trying to figure out exactly what happened. Dozens of markings showed where the bullets landed. Green said investigators recovered at least 60 casings.

Several businesses in and around the shopping area where the club was located were hit with stray bullets.

Robbie Hicks works next door and said, "We've got three bullet holes on this wall and then we get inside and find a shell casing lying on the ground. It makes you wonder. It makes you wonder what would have happened if i or we were here at the time."

A witness said he was at the club when the shooting began and he ran for his life when he heard the gunfire along with a hundred or so patrons believed to be at the club. Green said at least seven witnesses were interviewed.

The sheriff's office said the whole incident started when two women got into a fight inside the club. A suspect then entered and began firing off rounds. The chaos spilled into the parking lot where more shots were fired.

Green said it was not exactly known how Pierce died. He explained, "Investigators are trying to determine if that occurred outside of the club prior to him getting in the car, did that occur in the car because he crashed the vehicle in an area just about 200 yards east of the shopping center."

Green added that his officers tried shutting down the bar shortly before the shooting because it was open past the legal closing time  of 2 A.M. He also said the bar did not have adequate professional security.

"If they would have probably had better security, screening people as they came into the club, we probably wouldn't have had weapons brought into that environment."

He added the owners had no plans to re-open the business as off Saturday morning.

Anyone with additional information was asked to call the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office at (405) 713-1085.
