The Tulsa women's soccer team claimed the Holiday Inn Tulsa-City Center Tulsa Invitational Championship on Sunday in dominating fashion.

The Golden Hurricane obliterated Northwestern State 5-1 in Tulsa.

"I am proud of our performance today," coach Kyle Cussen said in a press release. "We came out ready to play and it is hard to do that after playing a double-overtime game on Friday. I am proud of the intensity form the start in the heat, but it was a total team effort. We played everyone that was able to play and it was good to see some of our young players in action."

TU's Rebecca Handley scored her third goal of the season when she headed in a free kick taken by Rachel Garcia with 8:06 into the first half. Lindsay Kirch and Lauren King both scored their first goals of the season at the 11:30 and 33:32 marks, respectively, while Stephanie Aitken netted her fourth goal on the year to give TU a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Emily Hahn headed in her first goal of the year off a corner kick taken by Miranda Zoller in the 61st minute. Northwestern State avoided the shutout by scoring a 35-yard strike in the 76th minute.

TU dominated for the majority of the contest, taking a 32-5 lead in shots, including a 21-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 9-2 lead in corner kicks.

Hayley Harryman logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up three saves.

TU will return to action on Friday against Florida Gulf Coast in the UMKC Invitational in Kansas City, Mo.
