The first night of the Tulsa State Fair was Thursday. Gates open again on Friday at 10 a.m.

This year's fair comes with new foods to sample, new rides to enjoy, and new competitions to light Oklahomans' competitive spirit.

Thursday night was the first ever State Fair sandwich cook-off.

Armina Scott took home first prize for rolling sausage, cheese and bacon inside fresh baked bread.

It was her first time entering her breakfast sausage rolls in competition.

"I didn't think I'd won and then when they said I was first I just couldn't believe it. Couldn't believe it," Scott said.

She's a cook-off veteran, winning first place in other competitions for her chocolate fudge cake and coconut cream pie.
