A man was arrested after stealing an EMSA ambulance and crashing it early Monday.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m. at the Bristol Park apartments near 41st and Garnett.

Tulsa Police say EMSA had responded to a medical call at the complex. After paramedics went inside, 24-year-old Ryan Pugh jumped into the ambulance and started driving it away.

Police say at one point, Pugh put the ambulance into reverse and crashed into three cars.  No one was injured.

An EMSA paramedic opened the door of the ambulance and with the help of Tulsa firefighters pulled Pugh out of the driver's seat and held him until police arrived on scene.

Tulsa Police say Pugh declined to take a breath test after an officer noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage and burned marijuana on his breath and person.

Pugh was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of attempted auto theft and DUI.
