Moore Police confirmed Monday that a substitute teacher did not bring a loaded gun that led to a lockdown at Plaza Towers Elementary School.

The school, located at 852 S.W. 11th Street, was on lockdown Monday morning for about three hours after a teacher found the handgun in his chair when he arrived to his classroom.

Jeremy Lewis with the Moore Police Department says there was a substitute teacher in the classroom Friday. They contacted the teacher to find out if that person knew anything about the weapon. After questioning the sub, police cleared the teacher, saying the person had no connection to the gun.

Police have also cleared all students and everyone on the cleaning staff. Lewis says police are searching through surveillance video to find out how the gun ended up in the classroom.

Students who were already at school when the gun was found were taken to the cafeteria. Parents who were trying to drop their children off were also turned away. After the lockdown was lifted, students were allowed into the school and back into their classrooms.

Lewis says students were never in any danger.
