BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma - The Blue Bell Creamery in Broken Arrow has canceled their annual Taste of Summer event scheduled for this Saturday because of the concern of severe weather.

Statement from Blue Bell:

It is with deep regret that we are forced to cancel the Taste of Summer event at Blue Bell Creameries in Broken Arrow that was slated for this Saturday October 13, 2012. We have as much fun putting this event on as the community has attending it, but do to the weather forecast for this weekend we feel it is in the best interest of everyone that we cancel it for this year.

As much as we regret canceling the event, the safety of our employees and the public will always prevail. The forecast is calling for spring like thunderstorms with the possibility of rain, hail, strong winds, and even the possibility of tornadoes. These conditions mixed with all of the canopies, bounce houses, electrical cords, and tents are a recipe for a huge safety hazard and we are erring on the side of caution.

The Blue Bell facility is located on state Highway 51 just east of Broken Arrow.
