OKC Boy Home Recovering After Getting Hit By Stray Bullet During Drive-By

A drive-by shooting at an apartment complex in NW Oklahoma City sent a 12-year-old boy to the hospital, Wednesday night.

Police say it happened last night at the Ridgeview apartment complex.

The 12-year-old boy returned home from the hospital on Thursday to rest and recover after a bullet shot from the parking lot went right through the outside of this apartment and into his room, hitting him in the foot.

The kids say they were getting ready to play some video games around 8 p.m. Wednesday when they heard shots from outside. Their mom says she heard at least five shots.

The walls inside the boy's bedroom show where the bullet entered the room, four bullet holes in all. Everyone inside the apartment dropped to the ground immediately. When the gunfire stopped, their mom, Continan Linen, got up to call 911.

"He came around the corner. I seen the blood. I went to grab the house phone to call 911 and they started shooting again," said Linen.

The boy was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he was treated for the single gunshot wound. Although he will have to miss the rest of his football season, his family is happy everyone is alive. They say it could have ended a whole lot worse.

Linen says she plans to move her family out of the apartment to a safer area because there have been several recent shootings there.
