The Caddo County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a former Hinton police officer armed with a gun shot himself and a retired deputy during a domestic disturbance call Monday night.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, a neighbor in the 600 block of N. Stanley in Hinton called police after hearing gunshots. A police officer arrived and began speaking to a man inside the home. The man, a former Hinton police officer, told the officer to leave, so the officer left the home and called for backup.
Several Caddo County deputies responded to the call, including a retired deputy. OSBI says the suspect had a gun in his hand when he approached another deputy. The suspect said he didn't want to harm any officers, but he was going to kill himself.

The deputy pulled out his baton and hit the suspect's hand, knocking the .40 Glock to the ground. According to OSBI, the suspect, deputy, and the retired deputy then all tried to get the gun. The suspect grabbed it first, firing one shot into his stomach.
The bullet went through the suspect and hit the retired deputy in the abdominal area. Both men were taken to OU Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said both the suspect and the retired deputy were "in stable condition."
The names of the former Hinton police officer and the retired deputy have not been released. The suspect also has not been arrested.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is now in charge of the investigation.
