Some of Oklahoma's Own are asking for help as they travel out of the country to provide medical care to people in need.

More than 15 medical professionals from Tulsa are preparing for a trip to Mexico next month, to provide their services to people who may have never received them before.

The project is spearheaded by Dr. Bert Johnson, who works as a dentist and has been participating in similar clinics for nearly 20 years.

"The people have no access to any type of medical care whatsoever, so anything they receive is great as far as eye glasses, toothbrushes, or the vitamins," said Dr. Bert Johnson, D.D.S.

"It's a very high impoverished area, where the average income is less than $100 a year."

To donate, bring in new toothbrushes or used prescription glasses to Dr. Johnson's office at 4715 East 91st Street. Donations are taken from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and are needed by November 1.

If you are unable to come by during normal office hours, you can call the office at 918-744-1255 to set up a drop time.
