Tulsa Police had to use pepper balls to get a passenger out of a pickup truck while investigating a "shots fired" call in West Tulsa early Wednesday.

The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. near 71st and 33rd West Avenue.

Police got a call about someone shooting a gun into the air. When officers arrived they saw a pickup truck matching the description of a vehicle involved in the shooting and pulled it over.

Police say the driver, Fredrick Dunlap, 30, of Tulsa got of the pickup, but Trevor Austin, 31, refused to get out.

After firing pepper balls at Austin, they took him into custody for public intoxication, resisting arrest, shooting from a vehicle and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.

Dunlap was arrested for suspicion of DUI and several drug complaints.

Both were booked into the Tulsa County jail.

Tulsa Police say they did find a gun on the ground a short distance away.
