Creek County prosecutors have charged a juvenile in connection with the August murder of Roy Varnell, Sr., in his home near Drumright.

Authorities refuse to say what the charge is or anything about the suspect--age, sex or name, because of juvenile laws.

Varnell's 12-year-old grandson and eight-year-old granddaughter were in the home with him at the time of the shooting.

The Creek County Sheriff's Office said the grandson told them he woke up to a gunshot and saw a suspect running out the back, but couldn't describe the gunman.  Investigators said there were no signs of forced entry.

After being read his Miranda rights, the boy requested a lawyer.

The grandparents had custody of the boy, because his mother is in prison, serving time for accessory after murder.
