The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to roll up their sleeves and donate blood in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

The storm has forced the cancellation of about 300 Red Cross blood drives in 14 states on the East Coast, according to Steve Nagle with the Red Cross.

"Just as Red Cross volunteers have mobilized to provide disaster relief and other emergency assistance, we are mobilizing blood and platelets donations to ensure patients have access to the potentially lifesaving blood products they need," Nagle said.

The Tulsa Blood Donation Center at 10151 East 11th Street is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
