Sooners Take Down Washburn In Exhibition Opener

The Oklahoma men's basketball team opened exhibition play with an 83-66 victory against Washburn in Norman on Friday night.

The Oklahoma men's basketball team opened the 2012-13 season with a 83-66 exhibition victory against Washburn on Friday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners were led by freshman Buddy Hield's 16 points and Amath M'Baye's 14 points, both making their OU debuts. M'Baye shared a team-high six rebounds with senior Romero Osby. Osby chipped in eight points on 3-for-5 shooting.

Oklahoma's depth was on display in the victory as five Sooners recorded at least eight points, and the Sooners outscored Washburn 37-28 off the bench. Four Sooners recorded at least five rebounds in the contest.

The Sooners will play their final exhibition game in the first Field House Series game. OU hosts Central Oklahoma at the McCasland Field House on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The regular season begins Nov. 11 against ULM at the Lloyd Noble Center.
