A woman in Wagoner County says she was held captive by her boyfriend and attacked again and again, before she escaped this morning.

Deputies describe a terrible case of domestic abuse that escalated last night into death threats, before the woman got away and ran for help.

Wagoner County Deputy Dustin Dorr says the victim's escape likely saved her life, because the violence was escalating.

"She was able to get away in the early stage, before there was too much violence into this," Dorr said.

Deputies say 24-year-old Joshua Pool held his girlfriend captive at his home overnight, and repeatedly assaulted her in front of her 1-year-old son.

He was not injured.

The woman told deputies she's been afraid Pool would kill her for the last week, but that he started beating her Wednesday night.

"He had bound her at one point and let her up, telling her he was going to kill her, and she begged him to let her up. And after that he asks if she thought he was going to kill her and she says yes," Dorr said.

Deputies say Pool has a prior record of domestic violence and drug charges.

He's being held in Wagoner County without bond awaiting charges.

Deputy Dorr says the victim escaped and ran to a neighbor's house for help, and the suspect fled, but was arrested in Coweta, at a relative's home.

Deputies say the victim moved in with Pool four months ago, and they don't know why, even after she felt her life was in danger, she went back. But they say that's not uncommon for victims of domestic violence.
