Over a thousand books are on their way to new homes in the Tulsa area.

The Assistance League of Tulsa delivered the children's books Friday. It was the result of a book drive the chapter started back in late October.

They loaded up most of them in trucks and SUVs and will be delivering the 1,300 new and used books for area students.

"[The books will go to] approximately ten Tulsa Public schools, four junior high schools, also to Lakeside Residential Treatment, and also to the Tulsa Advocacy for the Protection of Children," said Elaine Dejongh, with the Assistance League of Tulsa.

The drive was started to promote reading and literacy for kids.
