Tulsa's newest holiday lights show kicked off tonight in the Brady Arts District.

News On 6 helped launch "Glow on the Green" at Guthrie Green --- our future neighbors.

The folks behind Guthrie Green hit one out of the park with the "Glow on the Green" idea.

"I thought it sounded really great both to get into the Christmas spirit and to just get the music and the community together," Tulsan Kelsey Bolin said.

Live music set the scene and 20 local vendors set up shop for a holiday market under the pavilion.

"It's free, it's Red Dirt Rangers (playing music), it's a great day to be down here, the weather is perfect. Everyone should be down here," Chris Large said.

When the sun finally set, it was time to light things up.

Our chief meteorologist Travis Meyer counted down the first Glow on the Green. And overhead, with SkyNews6 hovering over the green, you could see the 1,500 lights dazzle.

The lights cover a full square block and our new station overlooks the beautiful $8 million park.

"Tulsa really needed a place like this, it's a special place, very unique to Oklahoma," Large said.

"I actually just moved to Oklahoma a few months ago and I had no expectations about what Tulsa was like," Bolin said. "Then I came here, and it felt like such a growing young neighborhood."

Just like the neighborhood, organizers hope Glow on the Green continues to grow.
