New Bus Shelter Opens In North Tulsa

City leaders celebrated a milestone in the ongoing re-development of north Tulsa, Tuesday.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett and other leaders cut the ribbon on a new bus shelter.

It's at the corner of Peoria and East Pine, and was picked because so many people from that area ride the bus.

Members with the Lacy Park Task Force say it will make a huge difference in the lives of people who rely on public transportation.

"We're looking for economic development on this corner, back to Utica, and with the ridership being as high as it is in this area, this bus shelter was very necessary," said Mike Reed.

"We have been working for quite a few years to improve north Tulsa. We have come a long way but we still have a long way to go," said Lacy Park Task Force Chair Esther Ogans.

The shelter took a little more than a year to complete.
