Downtown Broken Arrow got a taste of the New Year's Rose Parade, two weeks early, Monday.

The Pride of Broken Arrow blew into downtown, sousaphones swaying to the beat.

The band won the 2011 Grand Nationals, earning their slot in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.

Marching through their hometown will help them get into step before their big trip.

"It makes me feel real proud. I was in the band when I was in high school," said Janet Chapin.

Chapin and others lined the streets for the parade preview.

"I just love to listen to them play," Chapin said. "They get up early, early in the hot summer, 115 degrees. They're out practicing in the wind and the snow and the ice, too."

And soon, they'll be playing in the California sunshine.
