ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma - The Rogers County Sheriff's Office is looking for the person who shot a miniature horse that was found dead on the side of the road.

Deputies discovered the horse around 9 p.m. Thursday and believe the gunshot wound was recent.

Now, they're trying to find the horse's owner and determine if this was some kind of accident or if it was done on purpose.

"It appeared to be pretty well cared for. I mean, the hooves were not long, it had a halter on, so [I] definitely believe it is somebody's pet," said Sheriff Scott Walton.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Rogers County tip line at 918-341-3620.
