Thanks to an alert neighbor, four people are in jail accused of breaking into an 87-year-old Sapulpa man's home and beating him.

Nelda Costner, Aaron Bradley, Cody Garrett and Douglas Morris were arrested not far from the victim's house, near the 700 block of North Moccasin Place.

It happened around 9 a.m. Sunday, police said.

They say the group beat the victim and sprayed him with ether, then ransacked his home, stealing guns and knives and breaking his cell phone, so he couldn't call for help. Then, police say, they beat him again.

Police say the victim was released from the hospital Monday afternoon.

Officers say a neighbor saw the break-in and called police, and even followed the suspects at a distance until officers got there for the arrest.
