OWASSO, Oklahoma - A collision on Highway 75 west of Owasso snarled rush-hour traffic Wednesday morning.

It happened near 106th Street North in the southbound lanes shortly before 7 a.m.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu collided with a 1994 Chevrolet Corvette as they headed south on the highway.

The OHP says the Malibu was driven by Ryan Tyner, 34, of Skiatook. The Corvette was driven by Michael Eagan, 65, also of Skiatook.

Troopers say Tyner was driving at an excessive speed when his Malibu ran into the back of the Corvette.

The crash sent the Corvette into the median and the Malibu onto the outside shoulder, heavily damaging both vehicles.

The OHP says both men were taken to Tulsa hospitals. Troopers say Tyner was wearing his seat belt but that Eagan was not and was pinned in his car for 23 minutes.

The crash scene is a mile south of one of the most notorious intersections in Tulsa County.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation closed 116th Street North at Highway 75 last week to begin a 9-month project to build an overpass and exit and on ramps to carry the road over the highway.
