A 75-year-old Tulsa woman was killed in a wrong-way wreck Friday on U.S. Highway 412 near Adams Road in Sand Springs. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports Martha C. Nickelson was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-car collision.

Nickelson was eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway in a 1995 Pontiac sedan. Her vehicle hit Rojeana L. Cheek-Cramer's 2011 BMW sedan head on at about 6:14 p.m. Cheek-Cramer's car struck a 2006 Jeep that was disabled in the roadway, according to troopers.

Sand Springs Fire Department freed Nickelson from her car using the jaws of life, but she died of massive injuries. Cheek-Cramer, a 57-year-old Cleveland resident, was taken to a Tulsa hospital where she was treated and released for head and trunk injuries.

Mark J. Ball, 30, of Sand Springs, was the driver of the disabled Jeep. He refused treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

The investigating trooper said Nickelson was not wearing a seat belt. There was no word on why she was going the wrong way on the highway.
