A big red ribbon was cut Thursday on the new Griffin Communications Media Center in downtown Tulsa's Brady Arts District.

That officially marks the biggest transition ever in the history of KOTV, what's now known as News on 6.

We've welcomed all of our viewers in to the new building for the last week and a half, but this really made it official.

We cut the ribbon and welcomed community leaders in to say a few words on the occasion.

The Tulsa staff of Griffin Communications cheered when the ribbon was cut, culminating a building project and transition to a new broadcast facility, years in the making.

The new building is certainly bigger and better and has all the latest technology, but for all the employees, 3rd and Frankfort still holds a lot of memories.

With the move to the new Media Center though, a new era in Tulsa broadcasting has begun.

"And what a beauty she is, a state of the art facility," said Six In The Morning anchor and the emcee of the dedication, LeAnne Taylor.

The project represents a significant investment by the station's corporate owners, the Griffin family.

They also own KWTV in Oklahoma City, and Griffin Foods in Muskogee.

"A television station is the heart and soul of a community. We share stories every day and we can't think of a better place to be. We're proud to be in the Brady Arts District. What an incredible place," CEO David Griffin said.

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett described the media center as the newest anchor of the Brady Arts District.

"The future of our city is really taking root in the downtown area, having Channel 6 right in the middle of all the growth, vision and prosperity is a real statement, it really is," Bartlett said.

Griffin credited the employees for making the transition a success, but the head of Tulsa's Chamber of Commerce thanked him for making an investment in downtown.

"The success and the milestones this company has achieved over the decades is really remarkable, so let us start in the community by congratulating you," said Tulsa Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mike Neal.

And we thank you, our viewers and the readers of newson6.com, for all the compliments and we look forward to seeing what develops around us here, as we continue to tell your stories from our new home.
