A suspected drunk driver crashed into a family who had a 9-month-old baby in the car. The woman left the scene, but was later arrested.

She's 26 years old and has seven prior alcohol related run-ins with police, including three previous DUI arrests.

Owasso police are very familiar with Ashley Stahl. In fact, one officer arrested her twice in the same week for drunk driving.

Her license was revoked, but despite all that, she just keeps right on driving.

The 9-month-old, Rebecca, is going just fine, thanks to her car seat protecting her during Thursday night's crash. She and her mom and dad, Omar, had been out shopping and were headed home, when they saw other cars in front of them swerving out of the way.

"I saw her coming. My wife saw cars in front of us drive away, then I saw her coming. I didn't know what to do, because she was coming very fast. I tried to get away," Omar said.

He also swerved, but Stahl hit them square on the passenger side, hard enough to set off their side airbags.

Rebecca's car seat was in the backseat behind her daddy, who was driving.

"It was hard. It was hard. My car is totally wrecked, not working anymore," Omar said.

While they frantically checked on Rebecca, police say Stahl took off. Officers followed her and arrested her, saying she had glassy eyes and slurred speech.

We discovered Stahl has quite a record. She was arrested for DUI in Owasso in April 2006, when she was under 21. A week later, the same officer pulled her over again and arrested her for DUI again. That time, she got a misdemeanor conviction and a one-year suspended sentence. Then came three drunkenness arrests in late-2007 and early ‘08.

Her next DUI was in November 2008 in Owasso, when she admitted drinking from 5:30 in the evening until two in the morning, including a half dozen whiskey shots. She also said she took the painkiller, Lortab. That time, she got a felony conviction and a three year deferred sentence.

But, just seven months later, in June 2009, an Owasso officer arrested her for public intoxication. The officer said she was unable to walk, droopy-eyed and incoherent, and admitted taking Xanax and Lortab.

And now, this crash, which could've very easily have turned tragic.

"Nothing happened to us, but it can happen. They can kill somebody. A car can become a weapon in the hands of somebody like that with alcohol," Omar said.

In a report, Stahl detailed a difficult childhood and a history of drug and alcohol abuse and said she knows if she doesn't quit, she's going to die. But she told police, it always seems like she's going to jail.
