As you can see from the QPF map on the right, we stand to receive some badly needed rainfall over the course of the coming week. This particular product is valid through Monday night of next week and suggests an inch or more of rain may occur between now and then. The best times for us to get wet will be this coming Thursday when a cool front moves through producing a good chance of showers/storms and again on Sunday when another cool front moves through producing another good chance of showers/storms. These rains will not be drought breakers, but coming on the heels of the inch or more many received last week will put another dent in the ongoing drought situation.

In the meantime, very mild temperatures will be the general rule with temperatures running well above normal right on through the weekend. That means that although this is still February, the precipitation we receive will all be in liquid form with no wintry weather foreseen anytime soon. Having said that, keep in mind this is still February and historically some our heaviest winter weather events have occurred in February or March.

So for now, enjoy the more Spring-like temperatures that we will have with afternoon highs well into the 60s today and tomorrow. The cool front that will arrive on Thursday will cool us off, but our daytime highs will still be near 60 Thursday and well into the 50s on Friday. 60s are expected during the day for Saturday and Sunday and back into the 50s for Monday. As a reminder, around 50 or 51 would be normal for this time of year.

So, enjoy this while you can as there is still lots of winter yet ahead of us. Also, stay tuned and check back for updates.
