You might be able to guess that playing football is one of Cody Green's favorite hobbies. After all, he did quarterback the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to the 2012 Conference USA and Liberty Bowl championships.

But another one of Green's favorites might not be so easy to guess, so I'll give you a hint. He's still outdoors, there's still sunshine and fresh air, but it's a whole lot less stressful.

Green loves to fish. You could even say he's hooked.

"I've been doing it since I was four. I've been doing this longer than I've been playing sports," Green said. "You go from being as physical as possible to not having to do much physical other than sitting here casting all day; you can say it's the perfect counterbalance."

Life can be hectic for college students, especially athletes. After class, practice and other obligations, there just isn't much free time. That's why Green cherishes his time away from all the noise.

"When I'm out here, I don't think. The only time I do think is "hey, where are the fish." That's really it. I don't care about football, I don't care about school, nothing; just being out here."

Green will return to TU for his senior season in 2013 and attempt to lead the Golden Hurricane to another conference title, but after that's over, he's got post-graduation options.

"I'd love to just be a guide. It's one of those things where you get to fish 365 days a year, and get to meet a lot of people. It's what I want to do," Green said. "Getting skunked on a lake is better than any day playing football...for me it is. Winning games and being with the team, that's awesome, I wouldn't trade that for the world—other than a day on the water. I can do this every day. I think you can get burned out on football."

Besides playing in the NFL, Green says his dream would be to fish in the Bassmaster Classic one day. He plans to be out on Grand Lake watching the pros compete this weekend.
