A Wilburton man is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup in LeFlore County early Friday. Troopers say Dewayn D. Tallant was standing in a roadway just before 3 a.m. when he was struck.

According to the Oklahoma State Highway Patrol, David S. Young of Albion was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup southbound on U.S. Highway 271 and was unable to avoid hitting Tallant, who was standing in the southbound lane. The collision took place about four miles north of Talihina.

Tallant, 36, was taken to a Latimer County hospital and will be transferred to Tulsa when he is stable, the investigating trooper said in his report. He is currently listed in critical condition with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries.

Young, 24, was not injured.
