The No. 1 team in the country suffered its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 25 Nebraska 1-0 after defeating the Huskers 10-3 in game one of the doubleheader earlier in the day.

The Huskers only had two hits, but needed just one, a home run from Tat Edwards to lead off the fifth inning, to defeat the Sooners.

Oklahoma had seven hits and had plenty of opportunities to score, but were never able to push across a runner, stranding 10 runners for the game.

In the first game, Oklahoma opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning, scoring three runs, two coming on a Keilani Ricketts single.

After Nebraska scored three run in the fifth inning to tie game, the Sooners erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the frame, all coming with two out.

Shelby Pendley kept the inning alive with a walk and moved to second on a passed ball. After a walk to Brittany Williams, Destinee Martinez singled through the right side and Pendley used a head-first slide to avoid a tag and give OU the lead.

Pinch hitter Callie Parsons drew a walk to load the bases and Turang followed with a walk of her own to make it 5-3. Chamberlain then smoked a two-run single to center field to put the Sooners ahead 7-3.

After a walk to Casey re-loaded the bases, Shults laced a single to left field that got under the glove of Nebraska's Jordan Bettiol. The ball ran to the wall and cleared the bases to get to the game's final margin.

Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State's softball team fell to Houston in both games of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Cowgirl Softball Complex. The Cowgirls lost 4-1 and 4-3 to the Cougars.

OSU dropped the first game, 4-1. Starter Kat Espinosa (2-4) went seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out four. Tamara Brown was 2-4 in the game with an RBI.

In game two, Samantha Chrisman hit a three run home run, but the Cowgirls could not overcome a 4-0 deficit and lost 4-3. Starter Simone Freeman went seven innings, allowing four runs on three hits while striking out eight.

The Cowgirls (7-9) will return to the Cowgirl Softball Complex Sunday afternoon when they take on No. 25 Nebraska in a doubleheader starting at noon.
