Two Tulsa Police Officers Certified For Large-Scale Incident Response

Two Tulsa Police Department officers have received special certification to help in times of large scale emergencies like tornado, earthquake or terrorist attacks.

Two Tulsa Police Officers have received special certification to serve in supervisory roles during large-scale emergencies. Corporal Dan Miller and Officer Adam Woodard have been recognized by the Oklahoma Incident Management Team, according to a news release.

Miller is the fourth person in the state and the second TPD officer to be certified as a Type 3 Incident Commander. He can now serve as a single resource commander to be used in response to "large-scale incidents," the release states.

Those include natural disasters such as a tornado, earthquake or flood and man-made incidents like a multi-day hostage or standoff and other acts of terrorism, according to the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security.

Woodard has been certified as a Type 3 Planning Section Chief, the release continues. Woodard completed his certification by traveling to New York to help during Hurricane Sandy.
