Less than six hours after enlisting the public's help in finding a grand larceny suspect, Tulsa police took the man into custody.

Charlie Carter, Jr., 32, was wanted in Tulsa and Rogers Counties for felony larceny of merchandise and in Wagoner County for felony embezzlement.

Police said they received a tip just before midnight Wednesday that Carter was in the 3200 block of South 79th East Avenue.

Detectives said surveillance video from February 27 shows Carter stealing $4,000 in cash from Hi Tech Motors at Sixth Street and Sheridan Road.

Police said Carter appeared to be shopping for a vehicle at first. A salesman sold a car and placed the money from the sale in an envelope and slid it under the door to his supervisor's office. The video then shows Carter going into the store and trying to kick open the locked office door, police said. He then took an American flag from the front desk and used it to slide the envelope back under the door.
