A grass fire burned just east of McLoud Friday morning, destroying at least one mobile home.

A burning truck parked on the side of the road started the fire in an area north of Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 77. The flames are burning on the west side of U.S. 77, and north of Hazel Dell Road.

Strong winds are fueling the flames, but the area appears to be sparsely populated. Pilot Jim Gardner flew over the area in Bob Mills SkyNews 9. He reported the fire destroyed a mobile home. The flames also threatened another mobile home, but it was abandoned.

Firefighters from McLoud, Harrah, Shawnee and south Lincoln County are trying to contain the grass fire.
