Tulsa dropped its second consecutive game with a 3-2 loss to Corpus Christi on Sunday at Whataburger Field.

The Hooks struck first with a first-inning run but the Drillers (1-3) answered in the top of the second when Dustin Garneau doubled off the wall to score Kent Matthes to knot the game at 1-1.

One batter later, Joey Wong drove in Garneau with a two-out RBI single to give Tulsa a 2-1 lead.

Drillers' starter Tim Gustafson got out of a jam in the third inning, loading the bases without an out. But he was able to escape the trouble by striking out two consecutive Hooks' hitters, before getting an inning-ending popup.

However, in the bottom of the fourth, Corpus Christi tied the game at 2-2 on an Enrique Hernandez homerun to left.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth inning when back-to-back doubles by Jonathan Meyer and Hernandez off of Tulsa reliever Mike Solbach put the Hooks up 3-2.

Corpus Christi's Jason Stoffel then pitched a perfect ninth for his second save of the season.

The Hooks collected 12 hits to Tulsa's seven on the day. Matthes led the Drillers with two hits in the contest.

Gustafson pitched 3.2 innings in the start for Tulsa, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out four. Michael Solbach picked up the loss in relief, allowing one run on two hits in the eighth inning.

The two teams will compete in game two of the series on Monday at 7:05 p.m.
