Oklahoma guard Whitney Hand was selected by the San Antonio Silver Stars in the third round of Monday's WNBA Draft.

Hand, who averaged 11.1 points and 7.2 rebounds before missing the final 26 games of Oklahoma's season because of an injury, was picked 32nd overall, the eighth selection of the final round.

Drafting Hand allows San Antonio to claim the rights to her services should she attempt a comeback for the 2014 season. Hand would then be signed to a training camp contract with the Silver Stars.

Hand tore the ACL in her left knee in Oklahoma's game versus North Texas on Dec. 6, ending her collegiate career.

She will be cleared for a return to full participation in July.

Hand rebounded from a similar injury after tearing the ACL in her right knee five games into her sophomore year, returning to the court January 2011 following a 401-day rehabilitation period.

Hand made 103 starts in 104 games with the Sooners, totaling 1,211 points, 555 rebounds and 296 assists. Hand ranked 19th in career scoring and 11th in career assists at Oklahoma.

The Fort Worth, Texas, native becomes the 14th Sooner in the last 14 seasons to be selected in the WNBA Draft.
