Necessity Leads 2 Tulsa Nursing Moms To Invent Handy Baby Items

Every parent of a newborn has, at some point, probably felt like a pack animal, lugging around all the gear necessary to care for their baby.

A couple of Tulsa moms came up with a clever way to help parents minimize all that must-have stuff.

Peek a Boo Baby is a specialty shop in south Tulsa, with loads of stuff for babies. We recently came in to preview a new invention called a "Bib n Burp."

"I think it's gonna be a wonderful thing," said owner Sherry Isbell.

Isbell said many of the best products are invented by moms, which is exactly what Suzanne Brown and Bianca Woodberry did.

Both of them are married to college basketball coaches--Woodbury's at TU and Brown's at ORU, and each of them has three kids.

They said they couldn't find what they needed to make feeding time easier, so they created it.

It's a full-sized bib that fastens behind the neck. It has two large wings that are very functional. One of the wings rolls or folds against your body as you hold the baby.

"It protects your body from leaks and spills, protects the baby from overflow and it offers breast support," Brown said.

All that in one piece, so you don't feel so much like a circus act.

"I've got kids running in and out, and juggling all the separates. The bib, the burp cloths, the nursing covers--there just had to be an easier way," Woodberry said.

The other wing can be used for a cover-up for privacy when breast feeding, and it can be an over-the-shoulder burp cloth.

They've also created something called Wrap n Pack, which is just big enough to securely hold a pack of wipes, a couple of diapers, and all the baby essentials for a short stopover.
