The Creek County Sheriff's Office are working on rounding up sex offenders with active warrants.
During a recent warrants sweep, seven offenders were arrested, one was found deceased, and 12 more were located in other jails. Detectives say they'll arrest those offenders as soon as they're released, and bring them back to Creek County.
The CCSO is working with other agencies outside Oklahoma to locate four other offenders.
The sweep was conducted by regular and reserve deputies from Creek County, as well as members of the U.S. Marshall's Office.
Detective Chrissie Underwood of the CCSO said all but 10 of the nearly 35 active warrants for Creek County offenders convicted of sex crimes were accounted for.
The goal of the sweep was "to get compliance with the Sex Offender Registration Act," Underwood said.
The Sheriff's Office said this sweep was just the initial operation of a continuing effort to keep offenders in compliance with the law.
