Prom Night DUI Crackdown Nets Several Tulsa Area Arrests

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers patrolled this weekend with an eye to preventing any prom night tragedies.

A DUI crackdown netted 10 arrests in the Tulsa area for driving under the influence. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers also arrested five people for drugs, one for an outstanding warrant and issued numerous citations.

OHP announced the targeted patrols Friday afternoon, with an eye to preventing any prom night tragedies.

"We consider this mission successful because there were no fatality crash victims during the time of the special emphasis. We did respond to one single-vehicle injury collision on the IDL," said Captain George Brown, spokesperson for OHP.

"This crash occurred at 2:59 a.m. this morning and from last update, all three occupants of the vehicle are in stable condition."

Results of DUI saturation patrol from 7 p.m.Saturday, April 27 to 3 a.m. Sunday, April 28:

  • 10 DUI arrests
  • 5 drug arrests
  • 3 stolen vehicles recovered
  • 1 wanted person arrested
  • 22 driver's license violation
  • 1 expired tag
  • 8 insurance violations
  • 50 speed violations
  • 35 defective vehicles
  • 69 other violations
