Northeast Oklahoma drivers could be paying another 10  to 20 cents a gallon for gasoline in the next few days, even after the 14-cent price jump that happened last week, according to industry analysts at GasBuddy.com.

"Most states have seen increases over the past week and the national retail average reflects that with a 6 cent per gallon increase, but clearly, these states have gotten the brunt of it," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst, GasBuddy.

DeHaan was referring to North Dakota, (up $0.19 per gallon over the past week); Kansas ($0.17); Nebraska ($0.16); Iowa ($0.15); Oklahoma ($0.14); South Dakota ($0.13); Minnesota ($0.12).

GasBuddy.com says one factor is planned maintenance at Tulsa's HollyFrontier refinery.

DeHann says generally a refinery "takes several weeks or longer to perform said maintenance and it typically involves slowing production on units to do the work."

The good news is, the analysts don't expect the spike to last. Tom Kloza, GasBuddy's chief oil analyst, says the "May price spike would be an episode, rather than a long term trend for the region."
