The City of Tulsa is celebrating five years of success at the BOK Center.

The city re-dedicated the arena Tuesday morning as part of the fifth anniversary celebration.

The ceremony included the unveiling of a placard, highlighting the 2003 passage of Vision 2025, which helped pay for the BOK Center.

Bill LaFortune was mayor at the time. He tells News On 6, he's proud of the impact the arena has had on downtown Tulsa.

"People need to come down to downtown. They need to see, if they live out south and they haven't been down, they need to see the progress that we've made and the vitality and revitalization that has occurred," said former mayor Bill LaFortune.

Sir Paul McCartney returns to the BOK Center Wednesday as part of the fifth anniversary celebration. He played to a sold out crowd in 2009 for the BOK's first anniversary.
