A line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes moved across northeastern Oklahoma leaving heavy rainfall and some damage.

A rain-wrapped tornado was spotted along Highway 169, in the area of Talala and Watova Friday evening.

Reporter Grant Sloan reported seeing a damaged mobile home, as well as some downed trees in that area. He said the man in that mobile home was not injured.

The Highway Patrol had closed Highway 75 going north to Ramona, hoping to keep drivers safe as the storm passed.

Much of northeastern Oklahoma was under the threat of severe thunderstorms throughout the night.

Mobile homes and vehicles should be abandoned for more substantial shelter, and windows should be avoided.

Residents were strongly advised to stay weather aware as the Weather Service considers the risk for hazardous weather to be significant for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

The Oklahoma City metro experienced multiple tornadoes and strong storms with winds up to 100 miles per hour. At least five fatalities have been reported, including a mother and child who were in their vehicle on I-40 outside of Oklahoma City.

The storm threat will continue through the evening and include possible flooding through 1 p.m. Saturday.

With most of the area already saturated by rains on Wednesday and Thursday, there is the threat of flooding as more storms push across the state.

Once the front passes, WARN Team Meteorologist Alan Crone says Saturday and Sunday's weather will be spectacular with light winds and highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.
