Here we go again, another unsettled period is looming by the middle of the coming week with a good chance for additional showers/storms, some of which may become severe. Some locally heavy rainfall will also be possible as the QPF map on the right shows. This map is valid through this coming Sunday morning and if it verifies, then another inch or two of widespread rainfall is expected with locally much higher amounts a good possibility as well. As mentioned, there will be a threat of storms some of which may become severe, but the dynamics are not as strong as the events we experienced back in May. That should limit the severe threat to a certain extent but it is still early June so will have to keep a close eye on the sky by mid-week.

At least we are having a nice break in the unsettled pattern for today and Monday. Lots of sunshine both days will at least start to dry things out. Also, a northerly wind today will keep temperatures much below normal for this time of year. After starting the day in the 50s which is quite pleasant, look for afternoon highs to only reach the low-mid 70s. Monday morning will also start off clear and mild with morning lows in the low-mid 50s again, but a return to S/SE winds and lots of sunshine should push daytime highs back to the low 80s which is closer to normal.

Then, a more active NW flow pattern aloft will eventually push another cool front through the state during the day Wednesday with SE winds shifting to a more NE direction. A chance of showers/storms is expected for Tuesday, particularly that evening/overnight in advance of the approaching cool front. This system will be rather slow to move on through so a good chance of showers/storms will likely linger through much of the day Wednesday and into Thursday. The mostly cloudy skies, NE winds behind the front, and showers/storms will impact temperatures keeping our daytime highs at or below normal.

Right now, Friday looks promising with mostly sunny skies, NE winds and mild temperatures along with little or no threat of rain. Yet another system may be approaching before the coming weekend is over with yet another round of showers/storms possible on Saturday or Sunday.

So, stay tuned and check back for updates.
