Two Jenks players will be watching closely for their names to be called in the draft, and they'll likely have a decision on whether to stick with their college choice or turn pro.
Former Jenks players Thomas Hatch and Trey Michalczewski are in a position to watch their name get called in the MLB Draft.
"Not many kids get to go through it. I'm just very fortunate to be in this situation, because it's a win-win either way," said Michalczewski.
Both have committed to play in college; Hatch to OSU, Michalczewski to OU. But the thought of jumping straight to the pros has its advantages and disadvantages.
"One is a big one, because you're dedicating at least five years of your life to baseball," Hatch said. "There is a risk factor in skipping college, which I'm excited about also, but you have to weigh that.
Michalczewski could go as high as the third round and Hatch as high as the sixth, according to various national projections. But either way they choose, it's still a long road to get to the bigs.
