A Green Country toddler is making small strides in her recovery, one year after nearly drowning in a community swimming pool.

When Rosalie Goodwin's lifeless body was pulled from a pool last summer, she wasn't breathing. Her mom said her little girl had no heartbeat for an hour and a half.

Doctor's told Rosalie's parents' their daughter wouldn't make it, but a year later, she's proving she's ready to beat the odds.

"We've just, every day, I think, been so blessed to just have her in our life," said her mother Tiffany Goodwin.

Rosalie has been in a coma for the past year, drifting in and out of consciousness, responding sometimes to voices of her parents.

"We can tell that there's some times that she's sleeping a little heavier than other times, and then we'll come in sometimes and say, "Hey, Rosalie," and she'll start moving around and we know that she's listening and hearing us," Tiffany said.

She said it was in the blink of an eye that her little girl ended up at the bottom of a neighborhood pool.

"And I remember thinking for a split-second in my mind, 'Oh my gosh, that's horrible.' And then I looked over there and it's Rosalie."

Tiffany faces the world with a smile, but there are days, as her 5-year-old son pointed out, that are too much to bear.

"I always think about that when you're crying," Noah said.

Rosalie requires around-the-clock care. She's off all of her medications, almost every organ is working on its own again, but she still requires help breathing.

As of now, Rosalie's mom said there are no medical answers for her little girl's progress.

"Rosalie is in uncharted territory. Many things that she does is just unexplained," Tiffany said.

Doctors can't say what the future holds, but Rosalie's parents believe in miracles.

"If you look back, that was Jesus's legacy, was he was a miracle worker, he was a miracle performer," Tiffany said. "Then, also in scripture, it says the word is as alive and active today as it was back then, so I have to believe that Jesus and God are still miracle workers today."

Rosalie has an army of believers all over the world. The Facebook page, Please Pray For Rosalie, was created shortly after her near-death experience. She has nearly 50,000 followers.
