Shannon Gage has joined the Oklahoma State women's basketball staff as an assistant coach it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jim Littell.

"Shannon brings a wealth of experience to our program. She is an outstanding recruiter and is well connected to coaches across the country. We are excited to add her to our staff as our recruiting coordinator," Littell said.

"She relates very well to young people and will be a positive role model and mentor for the young ladies on our team."

Gage comes to Stillwater after a 10-year run, including the last eight at the University of Iowa, as an assistant coach in the Big Ten Conference. Prior to her stint with the Hawkeyes, Gage served as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan from 2005-07.

At Iowa, Gage was heavily involved in the Hawkeyes' recruiting and scouting efforts. She also aided in the program's conditioning and individual workouts.

Gage worked with the Hawkeye perimeter players, coaching 19 All-Big Ten selections as well as the 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and the 2003 Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year. Additionally, she coached a pair of all-district selections and two honorable mention All-Americans.

A native of Tulsa, Okla., Gage is a 1999 graduate of Southwest Missouri State where she was a four-year letterwinner and helped the Lady Bears to three Missouri Valley Conference titles and three NCAA Tournament berths.

After receiving a degree in Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation and Mental Health, Gage worked professionally in fashion merchandising before making her return to basketball as Iowa's director of basketball operations in 2003.

In addition to the hiring of Gage, it was also announced that current staff member Bill Annan has been named the program's associate head coach. Annan's promotion fills the spot formerly held by Candi Whitaker, who was recently named head coach at Texas Tech.

"Bill's work ethic has been an integral part of the growth and success of our program. His experience, knowledge of the game and ability to motivate has helped make OSU basketball a staple in the postseason," Littell said.
